Probably, if people could have the chance to choose something to be permanent, they will always opt what is “ideal.” Putting it in the context of society, the word “ideal” encompasses all and the words - community with the most ideal kind of people, environment, resources, governance, peace and order, violence-free, and many more - are not enough to exactly describe what an ideal society is because what is ideal is impossible to think of happening in today’s world.

Consequently, in the eyes of the people today, what is ideal is being partnered with what is modern for we cannot deny the fact that modernity has led to many advancements that really make the lives of many easier and better. However, even modernity paved the way for the development of the contemporary society, the world didn’t only change to be developed and modernized, it also changed its freedom to becoming a slave of modernization. The world, which should be the cradle of sustainability, unity and peace, is now becoming a hotspot of environmental degradation, war and separations. But, dreaming of this so-called perfect society that is beyond modernity doesn’t cost anything, so here are three of the most important ingredients, I think, in establishing an ideal society.
More than any technological advancements, large buildings, fast transportation, and scientific innovations, an ideal society, for me, will always revolve on how ideal the people in it are. First to be discussed is a society that has citizens with empathy and concern to other people, always and in all ways. As a part of the ideal community, people can't steal another people’s lives. Apart from the literal meaning which is killing other people, it is also about not destroying other lives for the sake of envy and selfishness. To not fall in the pitfall, people must respect others' lives by simply socializing with them with a clear ambition in mind. People can be ideal citizens by simply being the instruments of change in this world which is covered by chaos brought by those people who are losing their humanities. All must be advocates of goodness by helping those who start to lose hope that our world cannot be saved anymore, by respecting life and protecting it from the things that could destroy it, by believing that everyone can be brave to fight for justice and peace, by having courage to stand, speak for the truth and be awakened about the unseen unacceptable inhumanity that violence has brought to every well-being in the world. Everyone could be promoting life by simply showing love and genuine concern to other people and helping each other to become better members of the society.
Secondly, an ideal society must have the people who has the acceptance and understanding of the various religions which can truly be the solution for global peace. If the various religions that emerged through time, despite of their differences in beliefs and values, have the acceptance and complete understanding between them, it will lead to the respect that will benefit everyone and will encourage general welfare until the future comes. Religion has come too far and it will take more paths before achieving its true goal – the salvation for oneself and others, and to render due worship and obedience to God. It will be ideal to have people in the society making others understand that the world cannot be a world of peace and love without religion, that if it will continue to ignite everyone’s inner goodness, then it will be the heart of the heartless and the soul of the soulless. It will always be the only way towards God and humanity – a world of peace, love, acceptance and justice, just how God planned it to be.
Third and last, is having an ideal political institution. Political ideals will be the best people for the best government, but making them sit in the position will be in the hands of the voters, which are the people. Having an ideal government is an indication of having an ideal society or state. The exercise of laws should be in order and giving judgments should be just. Peace and order should dominate the whole society. Justice and equality, as well the practice of due process should always prevail. There should be one of the people for the people, where everyone could take part in making decisions that will impact their everyday lives, considering always the general welfare of everybody. And again, these all depends on having the ideal kind of people in the society.
Utopia, an ideal place in which all aspects are perfect or nearly so, will not be utopia without the people in it. Thinking about what if people in this utopia are not ideal, then the perfectness of this place will not be preserved. Realizing our world today will give us the thought that we are not living in our utopia, rather we are in the dystopia, a society in which there is great suffering or injustice – a place that is undesirable and frightening. However, we, people, have million chances of being the catalysts of change. Imagine if every society have this kind of people that are considered ideal, then we could probably have our IDEAL WORLD in the future. It may be impossible to think of it as of now, but, if people will continue to believe, our future will totally be different. It is not impossible to make every utopia dream come true.
