Environmental challenges such as the extreme changes in weather conditions, rising of sea levels, drastic warming of the Earth, and melting of glaciers on the polar regions are deeply considered as effects of climate change.

If having an in depth investigation of it, climate change is partly a natural process because natural forces like volcanic activities can actually give an effect to it, however, what we are experiencing now is totally different. This natural process cannot be solely blamed for what is happening because the pace of climate change now is drastically accelerated by human-induced activities as man continuously dominates the process and makes changes to it.

As there are people who unceasingly clamor for climate action and environmental change to help reduce the effects of climate change, there are also those who do not know what climate change is, the process of it, and most especially, the effects of it. Now, how can those people who seek for united climate action be successful if there are still those who are unaware of what is being fought for all about? How can everyone take action if they are uneducated about the extreme effects of it? These questions make it hard to answer the dilemma if there is really a change or if we are really getting the change that we want. Looking at the history of the Earth and the environmental changes happening throughout the years, we cannot deny the fact that within a span of a number of years, we can really see the evidences of climate change – alongside with these are the reforms that concerned people collectively do to prevent these effects from happening, but history says that it seems that we are not getting the change that we’ve been fighting for a long period of time already. Few days ago, there is this cyclone formed in the Pacific, categorized as a super typhoon and a violent one. Imagine having a strong, devastating cyclone during summer season – this is one of the many evident effects of climate change. Realizing what is happening in a logical manner, we can say that the reforms that we do are not still not enough because there are more people on Earth that contribute to the effects rather than those who inhibit them. Some do not even know that climate change exists that is why they constantly do activities that add to the effects of the said climate crisis.

Our planet is both unintentionally and deliberately being harmed as humans dominate the process. But good thing is that climate actions are continuously done and are further being strengthened to make every single aspect of Earth – man, living organisms, the economy, the world – can be able to prepare and adapt to the impacts of this global climate challenge. There are solutions that are being planned and implemented globally such as the carbon-zero target, the use of renewable resources, and harnessing of technologies that could mitigate the effects of climate change and all of these shouldn’t be considered as nothing.

Only if we could further strengthen our actions, the change that we are targeting is not impossible to achieve. Economic and political systems must initiate and encourage Earth sustaining programs for economic development and discourage Earth-degrading forms of economic growth. Everyone must include the overall environmental cost of good to share the responsibility and accountability that we have regarding this matter with one another. We all should educate ourselves so that we could have the understanding of what is it really all about. Starting to make actions from the root cause will have a great impact in solving climate change. Youths must be taught that they have to be responsible and to take matters in their hands as they will go through their generation that could possibly heal Mother Earth. Everyone must be taught of simple ways on how to conserve energy, prevent the burning of fossil fuels, learn how to reduce, reuse, and recycle, and take all the necessary actions to help save our dying planet. We must not forget about the role of educating people to go against ignorance that is the primary cause of this crisis.

Perhaps, we cannot still see the evident change that we have been wanting, but let us be reminded that the actions being made now are still considered as seeds for progress that when constantly cultivated will hopefully bear the change that the Earth deserves. Thinking globally will be a great catalyst and acting locally will fuel our vehicle towards combatting climate change. If everyone will do micro efforts, macro effects will be achieved. There is still tomorrow that we could look forward to towards achieving the change, towards the better Earth of the future.
